Kick box-office collections overtake Chennai Express and Krrish 3

Mumbai, Aug 13 (): Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ has created some new records at the box office. Kick has broken the box-office records of Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express and Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3.

As per reports given in Koimoi, Kick had done a decent business on its third Monday at the domestic box office and has collected Rs 225.1 crore at the Indian box office while the worldwide box office collection of the movie is Rs 366.72 crores (gross).

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Kick [Week 3] Fri 1.97 cr, Sat 2.94 cr, Sun 3.92 cr, Mon 1.69 cr. Grand total: ₹ 225.63 cr nett. India biz.”

Kick is Salman Khan’s first 200-crore film. Kick has shattered the lifetime box office collection of Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 (Rs 224.69 crore net) and has become the biggest box office spinner of 2014.

Kick has also crushed the box office records of Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express. The megahit film of SRK “Chennai Express” grossed Rs.223.94 crore in domestic market and an impressive collection of Rs.67.34 crore in the overseas markets. Now, this figure has been shattered by Kick.

The action packed movie ‘Kick’ has also previously beaten the box office collections of Aamir Khan’s movie, ‘3 Idiots’.

Still for this year, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have their releases, ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘PK’ respectively. It remains to be seen whether the upcoming movies of the respective actors will be able to overtake Kick’s collections or not. Till then, Kick will remain the top grosser of this year.

Kick was released for Ramzan;cashing in on the holiday mood of the audience, and mainly the Muslims after the Ramadan fasting,Kick saw an impressive run at the box office. SRK film “Chennai Express” was released for Ramzan last year.
