SRK to promote Happy New Year trailer through WhatsApp

Mumbai, Aug 11 (): The much-expected theatrical trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film, Happy New Year that is planned to be released this week on the eve of India’s Independence Day will also be available on WhatsApp.

Digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube have been constantly used by the Bollywooders for a long time but the marketing bosses are now looking for new digital platforms to improve their promotional works. Finally, they have landed on WhatsApp.

For the very first time for an Indian movie, the theatrical trailer will be sent via WhatsApp to the application users. The instructions to get the trailer through WhatsApp is one has to just give a missed call or drop in a WhatsApp message at 91 9819020202 to get the trailer of Happy New Year on his/her mobile.

Once the user goes through this step, they will get the link of the trailer on their WhatsApp account. The user can also share the link with their friends.

As WhatsApp is a popular messaging platform nowadays used by about 50 million people in India, Bollywood actor SRK is looking to exploit this platform to promote his film.

With more than 50 million using WhatsApp in India, they are sharing millions of images and videos with groups and individual friends every other day. So, SRK has chosen this platform. The only challenge is the limit by WhatsApp in which a broadcast message cannot be sent to more than 250 friends/WhatsApp users but WhatsApp has specially removed this restriction for this campaign, Venky Mysore, CEO of Red Chillies Entertainments said.
