Mumbai, Aug 7 (): Salman Khan ‘Kick’ has created one more record at the Bollywood box office. By the end of 12 days of its release, the movie has amassed a whooping 207.38 cr in its kitty. Also, Kick has surpassed the record created by his friend and ‘Dhoom’ actor Aamir Khan’s blockbuster movie ‘3 Idiots’ at the domestic box office. ’3 Idiots’ had grossed Rs. 202.46 crore in India.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Kick [Week 2] Fri 9.22 cr, Sat 10.62 cr, Sun 14.18 cr, Mon 5.08 cr, Tue 4.21 cr. Total: ₹ 207.38 cr nett. BLOCKBUSTER!”
He also tweeted, “#Kick crosses #3Idiots in domestic market. More records to shatter in days to come…”
There is a steady increase in the collections of ‘Kick’ and the movie has earned over Rs 207 crore since its release on July 25. Kick is also the highest grossing movie ever for the Bollywood actor.
Kick is the biggest grosser of this year so far. The other 100 crore club members of this year 2014 so far have been ‘Jai Ho’, ’2 States’, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Ek Villain’.
‘Kick’ released on July 25 to mark the Eid festival had grossed Rs. 100 crore in box-office collections in its very first weekend.
The Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer had crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in just 11 days. Aamir Khan’s ’3 Idiots’ released in 2009 Christmas took 70 days to cross the mark, Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express achieved the mark in just 15 days. On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Krrish 3′ took just 10 days to make it into the Rs 200 crore club.
Trade experts have faith on the Salman starrer Kick; they say more records will be shattered by the movie in the coming days. Releasing ahead of the Eid holiday (Eid holiday was on July 29, Tuesday in India), Kick collected tremendously cashing in on the Eid holiday with a weekend coming up in between.
