Kochi, July 24 (): Godman Gurumeet Ram Rahim Insan, chief of the Dera Sacha Saud termed as a spiritual organization came with 300 followers to Vagamon, a hill resort in Kerala and camped for nearly two weeks.
The Godman has been given ‘Z’ plus security cover by the Union ministry as he is under threat from Sikh organizations. There is a rape case and two murder cases filed on this Godman. Ram Rahim is also a rock star who sings devotional songs. His album, ‘Love Highway Charger’ sold twenty lakh copies, which is more than Katy Perry’s chartbuster Prism.
Mid-June, the Godman who claims to have five crore followers came in six buses to Vagamon a hill resort located in Kottayam district. Godman Ram Rahim travelled in a Range Rover and his security guards were accompanying him in BM’s. Thirty rooms were occupied in a private resort for his followers while the chief stayed in a different resort which was off bounds to even the State police.
Godman held meditation classes for his followers. He was not satisfied with the size of the TV in the resort and so a big screen TV costing Rs 3 lakhs was brought from Coimbatore.
Vagamon MLA and Chief Whip P C George said that the Kerala police should have investigated the reason behind Ram Rahim’s trip as recently it turned out that SIMI had conducted a training camp in the region. George says that the Godman bought several acres of land in the hill resort.
Ram Rahim became the darling of the masses as he distributed umbrellas and clothes to the children at a medical camp. Umbrellas came directly from a factory in Alleppey. He has announced that he would set up his ashram in the region and build a hospital. He has frequented hill resorts in Munnar and Thekkady.
Unconfirmed reports say that Enforcement Directorate had seized unaccounted cash from the Godman but they returned it back to him within hours. Kerala police special branch said in the report that due to ‘Z’ Plus security cover they could not enter the resort.
Ram Rahim dresses like Guru Gobind Singh,which has infuriated the Sikhs. In a last battle between Dera followers and Sikh outfits, three Sikhs were killed. Ram Rahim is said to be close to Rajasthani, the head of Khalistan Liberation Force. He gives his replies to the court in Haryana through videoconferencing citing death threats to him.
Dera has launched a ‘stop prostitution’ campaign through which his followers would marry sex workers to stop them from engaging in the profession and children of rehabilitated sex workers are adopted. Eradicating homosexuality is one among their social initiatives.
