Box office collection : Ek Villain nears 100 cr mark

Mumbai, July 8 (): Ek Villain has shown a good pace in its first week of release making its collection to 77 crore and on its second weekend too, the movie had performed exceptionally well. In its second weekend, the movie had collected more than 15 crore.

Dominating at the box office, ”Ek Villain” had almost collected double of the joint collections of other new releases. The film is now all set to cross the popular 100 crore nett mark by the end of second week itself.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#EkVillain [Week 2] Fri 4.30 cr, Sat 5.10 cr, Sun 6.28 cr. Grand total: ₹ 92.88 cr nett. India biz. Galloping towards ₹ 100 cr. AWESOME!”

The Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Shraddha Kapoor starring action thriller has crushed the second weekend collection record of “2 States” and “Jai Ho” by collecting more than 15 crore. Salman Khan’s “Jai Ho” earned 13.80 crore in its second weekend collection; the record was shattered by “2 States” by garnering 15.53 crore. Now “Ek Villain” has made it to the best, it has the highest second weekend collection. The movie is also heading towards creating the blockbuster status.

Directed by Mohit Suri, Ek Villain now needs another 7 crore to enter the 100-crore club. The film has also broken the records of previous films directed by Suri and films produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Taran Tweeted, “#EkVillain is Ekta Kapoor [crosses #TheDirtyPicture] and Mohit Suri’s [crosses #Aashiqui2] HIGHEST GROSSER so far”.

2011 film “The Dirty Picture” was topping the chart of Ekta Kapoor’s highest collecting production venture by earning 80 crore, but “Ek Villain” has taken the top place now. Meanwhile, for director Suri, 2013 movie “Aashiqui 2″ was the highest collecting film as it earned more than 70 crore. The figure has been shattered by “Ek Villain.”

Ek Villain has crossed 100 cr nett worldwide in nine days which is a good feat for a movie of new star cast and modest budget.
