Vijay Awards 2014 extravaganza on July 5 at Chennai (nominees)

Chennai, July 2 (): Vijay Awards 2014, dubbed  the ‘People’s Award’ now in its eighth season is back with a bang.

Vijay Awards is held annually to honour excellence in Tamil cinema in various fields, by popular TV channel,Vijay TV. The event  is touted as the biggest event of the year for the channel and looked forward to by biggies in Tamil movie circles and film buffs.

Iyakkunar Sigaram K Balachander and  AVM Saravanan declared the season open by performing the customary clap for the Vijay Awards Prelude Event on June 10. The prelude was anchored by Vijay TV anchor Gopinath of  ‘Neeya Naana’ fame. The event  was a star-studded affair, graced by the beautiful stars and starlets of Kollywood.

While some of the categories are open to public voting in the online space, the award winners will finally be chosen by an eminent jury comprising of actor-director-producer Prathap Pothan, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, actress Simran and actor-director-screen writer Yugi Sethu this year.

Viewers have voted for their favourite icons since June 14 by way of SMS or calls or online. Voting closed on June 25.

Vijay Awards 2014 will be held in all its gaiety and glamour on July 5,2014 from 6 pm at SDAT  Indoor Stadium in the city when the best of the best talents in Kollywood will be honoured and bestowed with a galore of awards.
