Action will be taken against Tapas Pal, says Mamata

South 24 Parganas (West Bengal), July 1 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee on Tuesday said that strict action will be taken against party MP Tapas Pal for his offensive threat to send his men to the homes of Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders to rape their women.

“Whatever Tapas Pal has said, action will be taken. We don’t support such statements. We have asked for an unconditional apology,” said Mamata Banerjee.

Pal had told a gathering in Krishnanagar, “I will send my boys to their (attackers) homes and ask them to rape their women. If any of our Trinamool men are touched I will ensure that the CPI (M) is finished and ensure that their homes are burnt off.”

His remarks have generated a huge outrage amongst politicians and activists. While BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy termed Pal’s statement as bizarre and unacceptable, Congress leader Shobha Ojha too demanded strong action against Pal. (ANI)
