Mumbai, June 23 (): Indian biz captains will be attending the FIFA World Cup 2014 and Prime Minister is yet to accept the invite from Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to watch the final on July 14.
Indian biz top bosses have packed their bags for the game. FIFA World Cup comes two days before the Brics summit that Brazil is hosting and the PM will be attending it. If the PM’s travel plans are tweaked ,then he can go two days before and attend both.
Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries who recently floated Indian Super League for football on the lines of an IPL in partnership with Star network owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, will be seen with wife Nita and his two sons, catching the action live.
Among the other Indian biz captains are Anand Mahindra, chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra who once owned a football team and is a known football enthusiast. He tweeted that he will be at the final in Rio to cheer Brazil to a win and said that he was hit by yellow fever.
Yet another Indian biz top head to watch the final will be Rajan Bharti, vice-chairman and MD of Bharti Mittal while his elder brother Sunil Bharti may not make it to the final.
Many of Indian biz owners are to decide their plans after the semi-final line-up. Fortis Healthcare owners are divided on their support to the teams. Malvinder wants Brazil and Germany in the final while Shivinder wants final four to be Chile, Netherlands, France and Costa Rica.
Kishore Biyani of Future Group irrespective of who plays will attend two semis and the final.
Venugopal Dhoot of Videocon group is already in Brazil and will be there till the final. His company owns a football team in the upcoming ISL and apart from this he has gas and oil block in Brazil.
Another Indian biz captain who is already in Brazil is Pawan Munjal of Hero MotoCorp. Deepak Parekh of HDFC will make it to the final.
