June 20 () : India wrapped up the ODI series 2-0 against Bangladesh with the last match being abandoned with rain intervening even before the Indian innings came to an end.
The match was played on the same pitch as that of the second ODI where both teams struggled to get going. The pitch still had a fair amount of grass and India opted to bat on this pitch once they won the toss.
Both the Indian openers – Uthappa and Rahane, fell trying to manufacture shots and by the 6th over India were down to 8/2. The pitch was assisting the bowlers well and the batsmen found it difficult to score off.
Rayudu and Manoj Tiwari soon followed suit , again trying to manufacture shots as their predecessors. Their wickets left India at a precarious 16/4 in 10 overs. This brought Raina and Pujara together and with Raina playing his shots and Pujara blocking one end, the score moved to 37/4 before rain intervened in the 13th over. When play resumed, the match had been reduced to 40 a side.
With the score at 57, Raina (25 ) was dismissed by Shakib , who ended up with 3 wickets for 27. Saha played a cameo of 16. Once Pujara and Saha were dismissed, India looked like they would fold for less than 100 and it was only due to the 4 boundaries Binny scored in his score of 25, the team could reach 119/9 when rain intervened for one final time. Binny for his role in the previous match and the innings yesterday, was declared Man of the Series.
The match was called off after this rain intervention. This brought to an end to the series which India won 2-0. Bangladesh would be ruing the fact of missing such a great opportunity as this was a second string Indian team with almost 7 of the regular players not part of the tour.
From here, India move on to their 2-month long England tour which consists of 5 tests and 5 ODIs which should be a mouth-watering series as India would look to reverse their fortunes as they were dismissed 4-0 in the test series, the last time they toured England .
