New Delhi, June 12 (): Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan unveiled the poster of his debut fiction television series named “Yudh” on Wednesday. The series is likely to be aired from July.
Amitabh hopes the distinctive story of Yudh will aid to connect him to a larger audience.
The series boasts of excess of skill in its casting and writing departments, headed by the character of Bachchan playing a genuine estate magnate.
Big B had plunged into TV years before through the hosting of the famous game reality show KBC – Kaun Banega Crorepati. He said he had been wanting to get a chance to do a serial on TV for a fairly good period of time. Last January, Big B got contact with Anurag Kashyap, after which both of them took the idea together.
Amitabh said it had been a wonderful experience for him. When unveiling the first poster of Yudh in New Delhi, he said he was thankful to the people who had worked with him and helped him make the series.
Bachchan has featured in more than 180 movies in his career crossing four decades. He said he decided to take part in TV series as he had clearly understood about the potential of television.
According to Big B, TV is a powerful medium. The turnover of TV commercially is three times more than that of movies. This clearly gives out the fact that TV is watched by more people than movies. There are over 800 channels and so the actor wished to contribute his acting skills to this medium.
In addition he said he thought it does not mean it is about getting down to television or going up to movies. He felt it is a healthy exchange of talent.
Yudh is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta with Kashyap; Kashyap is also the creative director. Director of ‘Madras Café’ Shoojit Sircar is the creative consultant.
The ensemble of cast includes Sarika, Nawazuddin Siddique, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Kay Kay Menon among others.
