Chennai,May 6 (): Thangameengal, Ram’s directorial was conferred with honours by the Directorate of Film Festivals at the 61st National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on May 3.These awards have been instituted to celebrate the best of Indian cinema.
Thangameengal is Ram’s second directorial venture after Kattradhu Thamizh ( 2007). It is a poignant story of love and affection between a father and his daughter.
The film has won the awards in the following categories at the prestigious ceremony, taking Kollywood to the national platform.

Best Lyrics : ‘Ananda Yaazhai Meettugirai’ written by Na.Muthukumar and
Best Child Artist : Sadhana and Shelly
Director Ram himself played the lead in the movie along with many fresh faces. Thangameengal was jointly produced by Gautham Vasudev Monon’s Photon Kathaas and RS Infotainment. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed music for Thangameengal. His BGM and soul-stirring music reveived rave reviews from critics and music lovers.
A press meet was held by the crew of Thangameengal to offer their thanks to media and lovers of good cinema.
Also, Thangameengal was the only Tamil film to be screened at Indian Panorama in International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Goa in 2013.
