Box office collection : 2 States heading towards 100 cr club, collects 93 cr in third weekend

Mumbai, May 5 (): 2 States, the romantic comedy of Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor is successfully heading towards 100 crore club at the domestic box office.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Biz Talk: Spidey casts his web, ’2 States’ gallops towards ₹ 100 cr!”

“#2States [Week 3] Fri 1.67 cr, Sat 2.70 cr. Grand total: ₹ 91.68 cr nett. India biz. Heading towards ₹ 100 cr mark. SUPER HIT”.

Running to roaring success at the domestic market, 2 States on Sunday added 3.40 cr nett and in 17 days the film had garnered 93.08 cr net.

The Abhishek Varman directorial started its 3rd week on a positive note. No big budget movies released this week; only two small budget films were released on Friday (May 2), which had failed to create a mark, eventually boosting the business of “2 States”.

This week’s Hindi releases -”Kya Dilli Kya Lahore” and “Purani Jeans”, have poorly fared with weak collections on the opening day. But, 2 States had a good competition with the big Hollywood movie, yet it came out with flying colours. The collection remained strong in its third week.

The movie did a wonderful collection in its first week. It remained rock steady on weekdays of the first week and never went lower than 5 cr nett which is remarkable. The first week collections was a huge 60.77 cr nett in week one, which is the best week one after ”Jai Ho” and ”Gunday”.

In 17 days, 2 States has crossed 93 crore and the film is expected to get a 97 cr nett by end of the third week. The film should cross 100 crore mark in its 4th weekend. The next expectation of the film is whether the Alia Bhatt starrer can beat the current highest grosser of the year – ‘Jai Ho’. The Salman Khan film collected Rs 116 crore.
