Ranchi,May 2 (): Dhoni’s home town Ranchi will be the home base for Chennai Super Kings this season except for 2 matches. With CSK enjoying support in similar lines to Chennai when they played in the UAE, Ranchi will be no different.
After the loss to Kings XI Punjab in their opening match when Maxwell sent them on a leather hunt, they have come back strongly by winning the next 4 matches. The opening partnership of CSK has been the best for the season with 323 runs at an average of 64 which includes a century partnership. The team seems to be building up a momentum and looking on course to finish in the top three.
Smith and Mcullum would be expected to provide a good start yet again and the crowd would expect to see their idol Dhoni play a crucial innings.
Jadeja and Ashwin who had a good start to the season should enjoy bowling in the Indian conditions which would suit them even more than the pitches in UAE.
KKR won a match by 2 runs against RCB and lost a match chasing an achievable target of 16 in 12 balls against RR. The positive from that match was the form of the captain Gautham Gambhir, who has now become a proud father of a girl.
Suryakumar Yadav who has scored 110 runs in the tournament at an astounding strike rate of 177 is one of the players to watch out for. The team will also be looking at complementing the good work done by Sunil Naraine whom batsmen from all teams have found it difficult to play.
Yusuf Pathan has only one 50+ score in his 54 innings with the KKR team and he would like to add to that tally for his benefit and his teams.
Expect great fireworks from the local boy Dhoni and his team!
