Mumbai/Chennai, Apr 25 (): Bollywood celebrities came to vote in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Top actors of Bollywood like Rekha, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and Aamir Khan were among the early voters who cast their votes. Many stars took Twitter to show their fingers and to tell their fans to get inked as Mumbai went for polls on Thursday (April 24).
Actress Vidya Balan, who lives in suburban Juhu cast her vote at a Chembur booth. Displaying her inked finger, Vidya said that it was her responsibility to vote and hoped things would change for the country. And if she pointed a finger at someone the next day, she said, there should be this voting mark on her finger.
Vidya was spending the last few months promoting the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards. She has not turned to the just-started awards show in the US, so that she would be here in India to vote.
Aamir Khan cast his vote in suburban Bandra. He said that voting is an important process in democracy and it was his duty as an Indian to vote.
Actress and Rajya Sabha member (nominated) Rekha came to cast her vote in a track suit. Sunny Deol and Sonam Kapoor also cast their votes.
Sonam said that it was good to vote for those who make legitimate promises. The actress also has chosen the ballot over IIFA, though her father Anil Kapoor flew to Tampa Bay, Florida to inaugurate the opening IIFA Expo.
Meantime, down South, Tamil acting legends superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan came to the booths early in the morning to cast their votes. Rajinikanth cast his vote at the Stella Maris College polling booth. Kamal Haasan came to cast his vote along with his companion Gauthami. Kamal said we need to aim for a stable government and price rise and corruption are the main issues.
