Rani Mukerji weds Aditya Chopra

Mumbai, Apr 23 (): After denying about their dating and clandestine meetings for more than five years, actress Rani Mukerji and YRF head Aditya Chopra had finally tied the knot on Monday (April 21, 2014) in Italy in a private ceremony.

Even though the couple denied their romance each time they were asked, Rani was spotted at the Chopra residence in all their family ceremonies.

Initially, Aditya Chopra was married to high-school lover Payal Khanna, who was an interior designer by profession. Aditya divorced Payal Khanna in 2009. Later, Aditya and Rani started dating. Initially, when the Chopra family came to know about Aditya’s affair with Rani, they were not too happy. But, later they changed their mind and accepted Rani in many of their public functions. At the funeral of Yash Chopra, Rani was overseeing all the arrangements like a family member.

In a statement given to media, Rani Mukerji was quoted as saying that she had always believed in fairy-tales and with God’s grace, her life had been exactly like one, as she had entered the most important chapter of her life.

The talks about the relationship between Aditya and Rani came around in 2012, when Rani Mukerji confirmed during in a chat show hosted by Simi Garewal that she is “absolutely in love”. The same year, they were seen together in a few more occasions. Rani Mukerji celebrated 2011 Diwali in Adityauday — the Chopra residence, that created brouhaha in media. The actress was spotted with Chopra lighting crackers. They were also spotted having dinner together in a Juhu restaurant.

In the funeral of Yash Chopra, who passed away in 2012, the newly married couple’s relationship became more evident, when Rani became a part of the Chopra household. Rani with her eyes filled with tears, stood along with the Chopra family during the last rites and funeral.

The actress had acted only in four films (No One Killed Jessica, Talaash, Aiyyaa and Bombay Talkies) in a span of last five years.
