New Delhi,Apr 23 (): BCCI is to now hear an audio tape that contains statements recorded by ex- chief Srinivasan and MS Dhoni. As per court, its contents could blacken Indian cricket.
The Supreme Court said that the BCCI should not leak the contents. SC rejected a three member panel which was said to be having two members backed by pro-Srinivasan group in BCCI.
The court observations show that Justice Mudgal report has a lot of revelations that could rock cricket as BCCI ex-president and Team India captain are those whose statements are recorded in the tapes.
Indications are that Justice Mudgal team would accept SC request and take up the probe. The situation gets serious as the Tamil Nadu cop who investigated the match-fixing and betting in IPL 6 named Dhoni in his report along with Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath. He can depose before SC. The situation takes a turn as SC says that it cannot trust CBI in investigating the match-fixing as the TN cop had said that the bookies and those in CBCID who investigated later had links with CBI.
CBI links exposed led to Raghavan ex-CBI officer coming under a cloud. In views of court, the CSK owner and Dhoni seem to be on a different page. Dhoni might have spilled the beans and Srinivasan would have tried to defend his son-in-law.
Dhoni has a lot to lose as he dons India blazer. Srinivasan after the SC stance will find him in an embarassment as BCCI members who hear it and said to be packed with his supporters on a sticky wicket. The BCCI will in all probability go under the knife of SC appointed Justice Mudgal panel and like in Sahara case the possibility of prosecution is not ruled out. In view of SC stance, a shift from Srinivasan group is not ruled out.
