Prior to the release of the film, “Main Tera Hero” was heavily promoted and its songs too had gained a good fan following.
Main Tera Hero was expected to do a much better collection than now, but the ongoing election fever gripping the country has resulted in little less footfalls, say trade analysts and movie goers.
Also in the opening weekend, the film was hit with the semi-finals and finals of the ICC World T20 cricket matches where India was the likely to win. Anyhow, the film did perform well on weekdays and maintained stable collections all through the week.
Tusshar, the brother of producer Ekta Kapoor, tweeted, “So, ‘Main Tera Hero’ withstood the opposition of the two big T20 World Cup matches (with India playing) to safely collect a Rs.20 crore+ weekend, cheers”.
Main Tera Hero is a blend of all the commercial elements needed for a hit film. Moreover, the screen presence of Varun and the extensive promotions of the movie have worked in support of the entertainer, says an expert.
The movie, produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, features Varun Dhawan, Ileana D’cruz and Nargis Fakhri in lead roles.
The story of the film revolves around Sreenath Prasad (Varun), an infamous boy in Ooty. He drops out from college to continue his education in Bangalore where he falls in love with Sunaina, played by Ileana. The movie, made under a budget of around Rs.50 crore, was released in approximately 2,500 screens.
