Amitabh, Akshay, Ranbir, Farhan to walk the ramp for Shabana Azmi’s show

Mumbai, Apr 1 (): Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Farhan Akhtar would walk on the ramp of Shabana Azmi’s charity fashion show on April 1 at the Grand Hyatt.

The ramp walk is a part of veteran actress and activist’s effort to fund for education and other requirements of the Mijwan village weavers. The above said leading male actors of Bollywood would walk the ramp dressed in attires designed by the under-privileged Mizwan village women for the charity fashion show organised by Shabana Azmi.

Amitabh, Akshay, Ranbir, Sidharth Malhotra and Farhan Akhtar will be ramp walking at this campaign with outfits designed by ace designer Manish Malhotra. This year’s Mijwan collection reveals the traditional thought of India. Signature outlines by Manish Malhotra includes lehengas, kalidars, sherwanis for men, pants for women, saris and kurtas in deep colours of blues, and pinks, yellows and pastels.

This fashion show is held on behalf of Mijwan Welfare Society (MWS), an NGO started by Kaifi Azmi, father of Shabana Azmi in 1993. Shabana Azmi said that this year’s event would be held on the theme of ‘Men for Mizwan’.

Well-known poet, Kaifi Azmi wrote the moving poem “Aurat”, imagining women empowerment. After several years, his daughter, social activist and veteran actress Shabana Azmi has planned to bring together the iconic male actors of Bollywood to walk for her NGO Mijwan Welfare Society to support the cause.

Shabana sees the show as an achievement of the wish of her father to see men and women walk shoulder to shoulder in every walk of life. She says, the theme behind the show is to deliver the message that “the man cares for the woman”.

Kaifi Azmi wrote in his poem AURAT:

“Qadr ab tak teri tareeq ney jaani hi nahi
Tujhmein sholay bhi hain bas ashkfishani hi nahi
Tu haqeeqat bhi hai dilchasp kahani hi nahi
Teri hasti bhi ik cheez jawani hi nahi
Apni tareeq ka unvaan badalna hai tujhe
Uth meri jaan mere saath hi chalna hai tujhe…

(Roughly translated):

Not only tears, there are glowing embers within you
Not fables alone there is a reality to you
Not only your youth, your existence has value too.
You have to change the course of your history
Rise my love! You have to come walk with me.
