Kochi,Mar 19 (): Shashi Tharoor’s son Ishaan Tharoor, senior editor at Time handling world affairs has joined the US daily, Washington Post. He will be the World Views co-anchor, said Dough Jehl (Foreign Editor) and Karin Brullard (Deputy editor) of the US daily on Tuesday.
Ishaan and Kanishk are the twin sons born out of the first marriage of Shashi Tharoor-Tilottama Mukherji. Ishaan was earlier in Hongkong overlooking Time’s global site. Kanishk is associate editor of an e-magazine, Open Democracy. Ishaan and Kanishk along with Sunanda’s son Shiv were present at the wedding that took place in Palghat.
Tilottama, a half Kashmiri and Bengali is New York University’s humanities professor. She is very much active and seen in literary and film festivals held in New York and Kolkata. She is one of the first to sign the petition against Art 377.
Shashi’s third wife was Sunanda Pushkar who has son Shiv Menon from her earlier marriage. Shiv had come to India to join Shashi Tharoor in doing the last rites of Sunanda. Shiv stays in Dubai and BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had alleged that Shashi Tharoor used his official position as Union Minister to bail his son out of a Dubai jail for having used narcotics.
Shashi Tharoor replied that his two sons are in US and they unfortunately did not use narcotic drugs. Swamy floundered on the fact that Shashi Tharoor is not the legal father of Shiv Menon. Sunanda entered the fray and tweeted that Swamy is a sick guy. Shashi Tharoor tweeted yesterday that he congratulates his son as a proud father.
Yesterday, Tharoor filed his nomination from the State capital which he represented in the previous LS. He declared total assets of Rs 23 crore. His income was around Rs 75 lakhs in the last financial. He holds Rs 9 crore worth in fixed deposits, shares and mutual fund investments. He declared that the gold and diamonds he has are worth Rs 32 lakhs. An apartment in the capital he purchased for Rs 45 lakhs has a valuation of Rs 65 lakhs. He owns property worth Rs Rs. 94,40,966.
On day one, he was at the receiving end of a jibe from CPM ex-minister Vijaykumar who said that the union minister will get a doctorate in women harassment. Shashi Tharoor has filed a complaint against Vijaykumar with the EC.
