Barca formally accused of 9.1 million-euro tax fraud over Neymar’s signing

London, Feb 21 (ANI): Spanish giants Barcelona has reportedly been formally accused of committing a 9.1 million-euro tax fraud in connection with the signing of Brazilian star Neymar.

Barca paid 48.6 million pounds for Neymar with his parents receiving 34 million pounds of the fee, although the club insisted that their dealings over the transfer were at all times legal ‘in light of the information available’.

However, the BBC reports that a judge in Spain has ruled there is sufficient evidence against Barcelona to continue investigations into the Brazilian’s move from Santos in June.

At the time of the move, Barcelona said they had paid 57 million euros for the player but it is alleged that, if other contracts are taken into account, the actual cost of the player was far greater, the report added.

The report mentioned that last month, Rosell resigned as Barcelona president following accusations he misappropriated money, although he denies any wrongdoing. (ANI)
