New Delhi, Feb 11 (): Mudgal report on match fixing submitted to SC has named six players of Team India and two of them are Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina, say media reports. The revelation was made by SP of Trichy Railway Police who interrogated Uttam Kumar aka Kitty, the bookie.
Mudgal committee mentions about a journalist who recorded interviews for a sports magazine, identified the voice and said it belonged to a player who played for India in the World Cup and is still in Team India. The journalist however refused to put on record the names as he feared for his life.
Six players’ voices were identified in the tapes of conversations with bookies. The Mudgal probe committee asked to write down the names and put it in a sealed cover to be opened by the SC. He declined. BCCI former president had identified the voice of Dhoni and Raina, said Mudgal report.
Mudgal committee refused to buy the statements of BCCI president N Srinivasan, India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the India Cements management who own CSK that Gurunath Meiyappan was only a cricket enthusiast. Justice Mudgal clearly indicted Meiyappan, the son-in-law of Srinivasan for match fixing.
As per IPL Franchise Agreement, if the team brings disrepute to the game and BCCI ,the license will be terminated. The report says that Meiyappan had posed him as the team principal of CSK. The judge rejected the contention that since Meiyappan had no shares in India Cements that owns CSK, he had no role in running the team. This view was put out by Srinivasan, Dhoni and company officials.
Srinivasan is now heading the ICC, the world apex body of cricket. His brother is set to be IOA president. Former BCCI chief Muthiah and IPL ex-Governor Lalit Modi along with Dalmiya have once again started an attack on Srinivasan. Srinivasan has taken a stance that he will wait for SC verdict.
