New Delhi, Feb 10 (): The Indian Premier League (IPL) has released the final list of players for this year, 2014 auction to be held at ITC Gardenia in Bangalore on February 12 and 13. The list has 514 names.
The final 514 players have been qualified from the recommended 895 names. In the players’ list of this year, 219 of them are capped players (169 from India, 50 from overseas), with a further 292 uncapped players (255 from India, 37 from overseas) also up for grabs. In addition to the marquee groups, players have been divided into various sections according to their specialisation: batsman, fast bowler, spinner, all-rounder and wicket keeper.
The maximum base price for the capped players will be Rs. 2 crore and minimum bas price will be Rs. 30 lakh. There are 11 Indians among the 30 players listed at the maximum base price of Rs. 2 crore. The maximum base price for the uncapped players will be Rs. 10 lakh and minimum base price will be Rs. 30 lakh.
This year’s auction will be done in Indian rupees. Reportedly, the uncapped players will be auctioned on the second day taking into account the volume of players on the list. This is the first time uncapped players will feature in the auction.
Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen and Jacques Kallis are among the 16 players who will be available in the first set of players in the IPL auction 2014.
With plenty of players in the list up for buying for the IPL franchises, the 16 top players, who have been slotted at the highest base price of Rs 2 crore, will be a highly sought-after bunch.
The auction process will take place under the leadership of Richard Madley, who has been leading the auction since the inaugural season of the tournament in 2008. The proceedings of the auction will commence at 9:30 am, on Wednesday, 12 February 2014.
