Mumbai, Jan 28 (): Salman Khan’s latest offering Jai Ho has collected Rs 100 crores worldwide. Within five days of its release, Salman’s film has grossed Rs 100 crore in the worldwide business.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#JaiHo opng wknd: India *nett* ₹ 60.68 cr, *gross* ₹ 78.90 cr. Overseas *gross* ₹ 22.38 cr. Worldwide total [gross]: ₹ 101.28 cr”.
The opening day collections of Jai Ho were not up to the expected mark. Salman’s all of previous blockbuster movies which include Ek Tha Tiger, Bodyguard and the Dabangg, did fantastic business at the box office on the opening day. Jai Ho collected just over Rs 17 crores on its opening day – a figure that compares badly with the opening day collections of his other films. Ek Tha Tiger that was released in 2012, collected around Rs 30 crore on its opening day.
On receiving not so good reviews from critics, the film still had pretty average collections on Saturday. Jai Ho recovered on Sunday but still numbers are far from satisfactory.
Jai Ho could not break the records created by Aamir Khan’s Dhoom:3, Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 and Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express that released last year. Yet, Jai Ho is certainly not a flop. Even though its run is very slow and steady and could not break the records created by 2013 film at the box office, people are still going to the theatres to watch their favourite actor. Jai Ho has now crossed the Rs 100 crore benchmark worldwide.
Salman’s Jai Ho is made at a budget of Rs 75 crores. Directed by Salman’s brother Sohail Khan, the film stars debutante Daisy Shah as well as veterans Tabu and Danny Denzongpa.
