Jai Ho opening weekend (first 3 days) box office collection is Rs 60.68 crore

Mumbai, Jan 27 (): Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s latest film Jai Ho has managed to collect over Rs 60.68 crore in the opening weekend in India. The movie, in spite of receiving mixed reviews, saw a rise in the collections on Sunday, which was Republic Day.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#JaiHo biz witnessed a big jump on Sunday. The film crosses ₹ 60 cr nett mark in its opening weekend. Day-wise biz in next tweet”.

“#JaiHo Fri 17.75 cr, Sat 16.68 cr, Sun *est* 26.25 cr. Total: ₹ 60.68 cr nett. India biz only. Figures from my sources & confirmed with Eros”.

The Sohail Khan directorial venture opened to a slow start with Rs. 17.55 crore earnings at the ticket windows on the opening day. The word of mouth has been mixed, thereby slashing the collections on Saturday. The earnings, however, picked up on Sunday, and the film collected Rs. 26.25 crore on day three.

The pressure on Salman Khan and his latest flick ‘Jai ho’ to set new records on box office collections, was huge this time. Last year, Chennai Express, Krrish 3 and Dhoom 3 beat the business of Salman’s Ex Tha Tiger, crossing the 200 crore nett mark in India.

‘Jai Ho’ too was expected to create many records since the movie had an extensive release across the globe (5000+ screens worldwide).

Unlike Salman’s earlier films, which released during holidays, Jai Ho did not enjoy the same advantage. This year, the Republic Day holiday fell on Sunday, hence the film never got the advantage of scoring big time on a weekday/non-holiday.

Jai Ho has indeed failed at the BO to create huge records. However, Salman is not bothered about the collections and is happy about the fact that his message is being received by the audience. He said that his mission was accomplished. He said perhaps, people are getting the message of the film and he was happy with the product.
