New Delhi, Jan 21 (): Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar will mentor 11 emerging players, including Parveez Rasool and Unmukt Chand, as part of an initiative by sports apparel giant Adidas.
The young cricketers, who are to be trained by Sachin after he retired from the international cricket are Unmukt Chand, Parvez Rasool, Vijay Zol, Manan Vohra, Manpreet Juneja, Rush Kalaria, Chirag Khurana, Akshdeep Nath, Vikas Mishra, Sarfaraz Khan and Aparajith Baba.
The cricketers range from 16-year-old Mumbaikar Sarfaraz Khan to 25-year-old Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Parveez Rasool, who have been signed on by the company.
Tendulkar said at the event, “This is a great initiative from Adidas to support the future of this sport, which encourages aspiring athletes to follow their passion and be part of an extraordinary league. Mentoring these talented young cricketers will let me be close to what I love and give back to the sport”.
Brand Director of Adidas India, Tushar Goculdas hoped that the young stars would make it big under the mentoring of the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He said, “We hope that each of them go on to represent the country one day. Among the young cricketers, 21-year-old Unmukt, the former Captain of the 2012 Under-19 World Cup champion team, played for Delhi Daredevils in IPL this year,while 25-year-old Parvez Rasool is the first Jammu and Kashmir cricketer to represent the Indian senior team. He captained his state team to the Ranji trophy knock-out phase this year. Rosool was a part of the Indian squad which toured Zimbabwe in 2013.
Vijay Zol, Baba Aparajith and Manan Vohra have been putting up impressive performances in the Ranji Trophy.
