Wellington, Jan 19 (ANI): New Zealand has taken a 1-0 lead in their ODI series against India with a 24-run win in the first ODI at Napier on Sunday, boosted by an impressive wicket-taking spell by fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan.
Despite India’s valiant efforts in the game, the hosts restrained India to 268, with McClenaghan picking up the crucial breakthroughs in his 4 for 68, in the vital 43rd over, leading New Zealand to 292 at the loss of seven wickets.
India’s innings were championed by the ever-consistent Virat Kohli, who played one of the best ODI innings of his career with 123 off 111 balls.
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni provided valuable support with his 40 off 46, and was responsible for a majority of India’s innings, along with Kohli at the crease. (ANI)
