Box office collection : Dhoom 3 collects 227 crore by its second weekend (10 days)

Mumbai, Dec 30 (): Bollywood’s Mr Perfect Aamir Khan has successfully regained his top place at box office with his latest release Dhoom 3 collecting Rs 227 crore nett in India by the end of its second weekend, just 10 days from the date of its release on December 20.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Dhoom3 [Wknd 2]: Hindi ₹ 37.69 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 1.16 cr. Total: Hindi ₹ 216.66 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 11.17 cr. Grand total: ₹ 227.83 cr”.

Dhoom 3 has ended the year on a great note for the Bollywood film trade. It has crossed the 200 crore mark in just nine days. Previously, Aamir Khan’s ’3 Idiots’ (Rs 202 crore), which released on the Christmas in 2009 took 70 days to cross the Rs 200 crore mark.

Shah Rukh Khan’s 2013 Eid release ‘Chennai Express’ (Rs 277 crore) crossed the 200 crore mark in just 15 days. Hrithik Roshan’s 2013 Diwali release ‘Krrish 3′ (Rs 244 crore) took just 10 days to enter the 200 crore club.

And now, Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 has managed to do the same in just nine days, thus setting a new record of becoming the fastest film to touch the Rs. 200 crore mark.

The overseas collections of director Vijay Krishna Acharya’s offering are also overwhelming. Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines told as far as overseas collections are concerned, the film has almost collected around Rs.100 crore, Dhoom 3 has totally collected over Rs.300 crore, which is a terrific figure to achieve in nine days. He added that he was also confident that the movie would cross Rs.300 crore in India, provided the film does not show any dip in the collection.

Dhoom 3 is now set to test the four-year-old record held by the Aamir Khan’s previous all-time blockbuster film ’3 Idiots’ that grossed Rs 56 crore in its second week. Chennai Express, the highest-ever domestic grosser at Rs 208 crore, collected around Rs 39 crore in its second week.
