Mumbai, Dec 23 (): Aamir Khan’s Dhoom3 sets record in the book of Indian cinema by crossing the 100 crore mark in just three days of release.
Film critic and trade analyst Tarn adarsh tweeted, “#Dhoom3 weekend breakup: Hindi ₹ 100.76 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 6.85 cr. Weekend total [India]: ₹ 107.61 cr nett. ALL TIME RECORD”.
“#Dhoom3 – Sunday: Hindi ₹ 36.09 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 1.94 cr. Sunday total: ₹ 38.03 cr. Grand total: ₹ 107.61 cr nett. FANTABULOUS!”
Dhoom3 was released on Dec 20 in about 4,000 screens. The movie garnered Rs.36.22 crore on the first day, followed by a slow Rs.33.36 crore on Saturday. It collected Rs.38.03 on Sunday, an official statement said.
With such a massive collections, ‘Dhoom3′ has also beaten Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express and Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 to emerge as the new record holder.
On the opening day, Aamir Khan’s Dhoom3 had shattered the opening day records of ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Krrish 3′ by collecting over Rs 36 crore.
‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Krissh 3′ reached the Rs 100 crore mark in just 4 days. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’ entered the Rs 100 cr club in 10 days with a collection of Rs. 100.2.
Dhoom 3 was also released in the southern states in dubbed versions and clashed with Tamil film “Biriyani” in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. But the film produced by Yash Raj Films banner managed to get an impressive opening in the southern states, mainly in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Interestingly, reports say in Chennai, more than 50 percent of the shows are sold out for the next three days at major multiplexes.
Manoj Kumar, a representative of Rakki cinemas said that Rakki Cinemas had sold about 1,200 tickets for the Tamil version of the film in the opening weekend and that was the highest number of tickets they had ever sold for a dubbed Hindi film.
Moreover, the film has also done exceptionally well in the overseas market too. Taran tweeted, “EXCLUSIVE OVERSEAS DATA: #Dhoom3 sets international markets on fire!”
“So here’s the opening weekend total of #Dhoom3… India Rs 107.61 cr + Overseas Rs 62.95 cr. Worldwide total: Rs 170.56 cr. HISTORIC!”
