Box office collection : R…Rajkumar collects 47 crore in one week

Mumbai, Dec 14 (): Despite panned by critics, Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha starrer R…Rajkumar has completed its first week run with respectable box office numbers. The masala entertainer has collected 47.05 cr nett at the domestic box office at the end of its first week.

“R…Rajkumar” first week total is the highest for Shahid and Sonakshi’s films released this year. Also, the film has crossed the lifetime collection record of Shahid’s “Kaminey” which earned 42 crore. As for Prabhudheva, his track record of 100% success stays undamaged in the world of Bollywood movies.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#R…Rajkumar does very well in Week 1. Collects 47.05 cr nett [India biz]”.

The film, which had a bumper opening, registered full occupancy during the first weekend and weekday shows in theatres.

On Tuesday, the film collected 4.60 cr nett followed by 3.90 cr nett on Wednesday and 3.30 cr nett on Thursday taking one week total to almost 47.05 cr nett which is a good total. Film dropped by 10-15% on weekdays which is a good sign.

The first week collection has made sure that R…Rajkumar is a hit film.

The film performed well in circuits like Mumbai, Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, while CI and Punjab regions had average occupancy.

Several distributors have said that the film maintained steadiness at single screens across the country. The drop in the business during the weekdays was also marginal.

Also, the cricket matches between South Africa and India did not affect the run of R…Rajkumar. The only drawback is that the film had a poor opening in overseas market.

With an extraordinary first week earnings, the film is expected to rule the ticket windows in its second week as well, as new releases “What The Fish” and “Jackpot” have failed to generate good reviews.

The film is looking at a lifetime total of at least 70 crore though a bigger total would be a challenge since Dhoom 3 hits screens next week.
