Chennai, Dec 5 (): Aamir Khan starrer “Dhoom 3″ that releases on December 20 for Christmas is all set to have a big release in Tamil Nadu.
Reports say Dhoom 3 is booked in over 150 screens so far. Sathyam Cinemas, which has acquired the theatrical rights of the Hindi and Tamil versions of “Dhoom 3″ in Tamil Nadu, say 150 screens has been booked for Dhoom 3 so far.
The screen count is likely to increase in the coming days and the eagerly awaited movie might release in nearly 200 screens on 20 December. Sathyam Cinemas will also offer majority of screens at their multiplexes in Chennai for the Hindi movie.
A trader said Dhoom 3 has created a lot of positive note from the day one not only in the north but also among the Tamil audience. The success of its previous versions has made people eagerly await the release of the movie. As the movie is taken in a good manner, distributors are leaving no stone unturned to cash in on the occasion.
One can clearly say Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 is getting a wider release than Shah Rukh Khan’s and Salman Khan’s films, as their films did not get so much screens for their release. Seeing the never-seen-before huge booking for a Bollywood movie, the Hindi flick is likely to register a record opening at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai said “Chennai Express” collected Rs 8.55 crore (18 days) in the Tamil Nadu-Kerala area. The film outdid the collections of previous record holder – “3 Idiots” – which had garnered only Rs 4.25 crore. As there is huge hype surrounding “Dhoom 3″, the film is likely to surpass “Chennai Express” collections, he said.
Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 is an action thriller film, the third in the popular Dhoom franchise written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra of Yas Raj Films.
