Kanpur, Nov 28 (): Left-hander Shikhar Dhawan’s sparkling century had guided Indian team to a five-wicket win in the 3rd and the final ODI match played at Kanpur against West Indies, with which India clinched the ODI series 2-1.

Put in to bat first, West Indies lost the wicket of Johnson Charles early in the innings. Kieran Powell and Marlon Samuels then made a crucial 117-run partnership for the second wicket which was finally broken by Ashwin. In the middle orders, West Indies lost some quick wickets but Darren Sammy and Darren Bravo added unbeaten 67 runs for the sixth wicket partnership which set India a target of 264.
Marlon Samuels (71), Kieron Powell (70) and Darren Bravo (51 not out) were the half-centurions for the West Indies while the Indian bowler Ravichandran Ashwin clinched 2 wickets for 45 runs, while Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took one wicket each.
In reply, Rohit Sharma (4) and Virat Kohli (19) were sent to the pavilion with 60 runs on the board. But Dhawan rose along with Yuvraj Singh and added 129 runs for the third wicket.
At the end, Dhoni made the winning runs off the ball from spinner Permaul. Dhawan was named ‘Man of the Match’ while in-form Virat Kohli was adjudged the ‘Man of the Series’.
