Highlights
India were 194 for 3 when the 36th over began, with Virat Kohli on course for an 18th ODI century. The West Indies’ bowling at the end of the Indian innings played an important role in keeping the series alive. Despite MS Dhoni’s attack towards the end, a total of 95 in the last 15 overs meant a good chase.
West Indies started their innings poorly as they lost Charles and Samuels early. But, Darren Bravo and Powell stabilized the innings and added 100 runs for the third wicket.
Both the players scored 50 before returning back to pavilion. Simmons was joined by Sammy with whom he added 82 runs for the sixth wicket. Simmons had a stay on 43, when Yuvraj dropped a simple catch. He then went on to score a fifty and became one of the four batsmen to do so.
But for Indians, it was a poor field. They dropped as many as 5 catches in the field. The bowling lacked force; apart from Ashwin, none of the bowlers really troubled the batsmen. The pacers gave away too many giveaways and were taken to the cleaners.
There was heavy dew around; somehow, the players managed to throw the ball in both innings.
