Sachin Tendulkar gets a grand farewell from Bollywood stars

Mumbai, Nov 19 (): Recently retired Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali hosted a grand dinner party for his colleagues and friends from sports and entertainment world at Waterstones Club in Mumbai, on Monday, November 18.

The grand dinner was to mark the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement from cricket cum getting the Indian’s most prestigious award Bharat Ratna.

The party was attended by top Bollywood stars, politicians, cricketers and business tycoons to celebrate Sachin’s success, at the lounge in suburban Mumbai. Dressed in a black suit, Sachin was accompanied by his wife Anjali Tendulkar who personally welcomed everyone.

Among the political leaders, Union Minister Sharad Pawar, Raj Thackeray and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan attended the party. Guests from business sector namely Subrato Roy and Nita Ambani were also present at the party.

Melody queen Asha Bhosle and Tendulkar’s former teammates Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag were present. Indian skipper MS Dhoni came with his wife Sakshi while Harbhajan Singh arrived with girlfriend Geeta Basra.

Apart from them, Indian cricket team’s other players Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma also attended the event. Above all, Sachin’s guru and coach Ramakant Achrekar was one of the most special guests who attended the event.

The 71-year-old Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was overwhelmed by the cricket maestro’s generosity at the party. He wrote on his Faceboook page: “A delightful evening with Sachin Tendulkar, as he invites us to celebrate his Bharat Ratna, along with his team mates and family and friends .. all paying such glorious tributes to this pride of our nation … meeting up with all the members of the Indian Team .. players whom we admire and respect as we see their accomplishments on the field .. so humble and generous in their countenance !! Wishing Sachin all the very best he deserves in the coming years.
