Ontario, Nov 5 (): The legendary music director AR Rahman has a street named after him in Ontario, Canada. The street name reads ‘Allah – Rakha Rahman St.’
The Oscar winner AR Rahman posted a picture of him wearing a very cool coat and holding up a signboard for the street and tweeted, “Welcome to my street! (In Markham, ON, Canada)”.
Rahman went to the Canadian city as a guest at the International Indian Film Festival Toronto (IIFFT) to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema. One of the Canadian streets was named after him and it was just one of the many tributes paid to Bollywood celebrities as part of the festivities.
Nicknamed as “the Mozart of Madras” and “Isai Puyal”, Rahman has now got a street named after him.
In his 20-yearold musical career , AR Rahman has achieved many awards. He has won two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South in addition to numerous other awards and nominations.
Rahman is one of the highest paid composers in the Indian film industry. He has also become a prominent humanitarian and philanthropist, donating and raising money for beneficial causes and supporting charities.
