Pune, Oct 12 (): India would take on Australia in the 1st ODI match of the Australia tour of India 2013 on October 13, Thursday at 14:30 local Time (09:00 GMT) at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune.

1st ODI: India v Australia at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium,Pune on Oct 13, 2013 (14:30 local | 09:00 GMT)

This match is the first ODI to be played at the newly built Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium that became an international venue last year when India and England clashed in a T20 International.

The hosts had whitewashed Australia 4-0 in the February-March Test series and revenging that loss would be a huge task for the visitors.
Paceman Ishant Sharma and spinner R Aswhin were carted around by the Australians in T20, so, bowling would be a little worry for Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Ashwin bled 41 runs in his two overs and Sharma granted 52 in his four. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and R Vinay Kumar had picked up three wickets apiece. Left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja bowled very effectively with his flatter line. Shikhar Dhawan had a reasonable outing in the Champions League T20. He scored 250 runs, the second highest of the competition, at an average of 41.66. So, it will not be a great task for him to translate that form in the one-day series. Yuvraj Singh is in good form in T20 will lead the Indian batting line up with skipper Dhoni, Raina, Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

India Squad: MS Dhoni (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, R Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Jaydev Unadkat and Mohd. Shami.

After their debacle with India, Australia did beat England in ODIs but Indians are tough in home their conditions. The Aussies would require their batsmen to stay longer at the crease and make good starts count in the 50-over game. Aaron Finch, who had an excellent show in T20 will be a great worry for Indian bowlers. Watson is the most experienced player and he also knows conditions well. He needs to fire on both fronts if Australia are to succeed and win the series. The Australians do not have an effective spinner in their attack hence the pacemen have to come up with something very special to stop the raging Indian batting line up.

Australia Squad: George Bailey (captain), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Xavier Doherty, James Faulkner, Callum Ferguson, Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Moises Henriques, Phil Hughes, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Adam Voges, Shane Watson.
