Box office collection : Besharam collects 20 crore in its opening (first) day

Mumbai, Oct 3 (): Ranbir Kapoor’s Besharam began its first day on a brilliant note. The first day domestic collections has settled in the range of 20.50 crores at the box office.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Besharam – India *early estimates*: Wed Rs 20 cr+. Big holiday [2 Oct] + Ranbir after #Barfi and #YJHD + Massive release… #Besharam should’ve collected Rs 25 cr+ on Wed. It didn’t!”

Even though the collection on the opening day was massive, it did not reach up to the expectations of trade analysts.

Experts were saying Besharam has the plus points of having the much-admired youth star, Ranbir Kapoor in lead role, the movie is releasing on Gandhi Jeyanthi day, which is a national holiday and then, the movie is released by the makers of the movie in a large scale. Moreover, Ranbir’s last two outings Barfi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani were super hit movies.

All these were the reasons cited by experts to say Besharam is expected to collect 25 crore on its opening day. But, the first day collections have fallen short of the prediction. Still, 20 crore on an opening day is a decent collection.

Most critics have slammed the film. Being a non-festive holiday, the film’s occupancy on October 2 was above 90%-95% mostly. Today being a working day, the collections will see a heavy drop. Also, heavy negative word of the mouth is prevailing for the movie, which might prevent the film’s expected growth at the box office.

Taran tweeted, “Today [Thu] and tomorrow [Fri] are crucial for #Besharam. The film will have to maintain the momentum to post a healthy total”.

The advantages for this movie are there are no huge releases in this week; also Ranbir’s fan following will help the film’s collections to grow but mostly Besharam would not surely collect shattering box office collections that was expected from it.
