Cast and crew:
Director: Atlee Kumar
Cast: Arya, Nayantara, Jai and Nazriya Nazim
Music: G.V. Prakash Kumar
The film starts with the wedding ceremony of John (Arya) and Regina (Nayanthara), who have planned to marry to keep their families happy. However, wedding makes things between them worse. They hate each other and their chemistry doesn’t work between them. But, the story gets a twist when Regina suffers a stroke and she tells her past love story.
John also says about his past life and they both come to terms. However, both hesitate to say their good feelings they have for one another. What were their old experiences? Will they accept each other forgetting about their respective pasts? This forms the rest of the story.
Arya has done an impressive performance as a lover boy. His chemistry with Nayantara is excellent. Performances of Nayanthara and Jai are simply superb while Nazriya doesn’t have a strong role to portray her talent. Arya and Santhanam share some lighter moments together.
GV Prakash Kumar has made seven tracks for Raja Rani. ‘A love for life’, ‘Imaye imaye’, ‘Angnyaade’ and ‘Hey baby’ have become hits.
Debutant Atlee has handled the script with great care. In a effort to make a movie commercial, at some places he has lost his control. Even though, his film cannot be described as a great debut, it is for sure a better film from a debutant filmmaker of the recent past.
All the four actors – Arya, Nayantara, Jai and Nazriya Nazim have made good impact in the movie. Nobody overshadows each other and the director has to be appreciated for the results.
Raja Rani is a pleasing simple and entertaining romance drama with seasoned performances and a definite script. The director has tried to deliver a good message to the young generation. He tries to say that there is a life after a love failure.
Raja Rani is worth watching.
