Navarathri music and dance (NINE) festival in Chennai from Oct 5

Chennai, Sep 25 (): Fast Forward Solutions and Magic Square Entertainment Pvt Ltd, in association with Swasthiktv.com, present Navarathri Isai Naattiya Eyal Vizha (NINE), programmes on classical music, dance, discourse and literature, at the Mylapore Fine Arts Club from October 5 to October 15, 2013.

The highlight of the festival is that the main performers are all women. This is but right as the Navarathri festival is dedicated to Shakti, says the Director and CEO of Magic Square Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Mr. Vijay Vishwanath.

Navarathri is a festival that brings culture, music and dance to the air. The NINE festival aims at celebrating all that is great about Navarathri and what the festival stands for.

The accompanying artistes, however, will have both men and women. Even the pattimanram on a unique concept ‘Vaazhvil Vettriyai Nirnayippavar – Kalaimgalaaa, Alaimagalaa, Malaimagalaa’ which also revolves around women Goddesses, has three women panellists, the presiding judge alone being a man – Solvendhar Sukhi Sivam. The topic has been suggested by Thiru Sukhi Sivam himself.

Top Carnatic musicians, exponents of Bharatanatyam and discourses will take place in the events.

The impressive list of top-notch performers includes Sangita Kalanidhi-elect Padmashree Sudha Ragunathan (Oct 6), Kalaimamani Nithyashree Mahadevan (Oct 13), Gayathri Venkataraghavan (Oct 8), Ranjani-Gayatri (Oct 12), Kalaimamani D Mangaiyarkarasi (discourses on Oct 7, 10, 15), Padmashree Meenakshi Chitharanjan and disciples (Bharatnatyam on Lahari – Flood of Divine Bliss, Oct 11), Dr Ambika Kameshwar and disciples (Bharatnatyam on ‘Mupperum Deviyar’ and ’Bharathi Kanda Shakthi’ –Oct 5),Charulatha Mani and troupe (Thirai Isaiyil Bhakti Isai- Oct 9).

Solvendhar Sukhi Sivam presides over Pattiamanram – suzhalum sollarangam on Vaazhvil Vettriyai Nirnayippavar –Kalaimagalaa, Alaimagalaa, Malaimagalaa, with women panelists – lawyer K Sumathi (Kalaimagal), Dr N Vijayasundari from Tiruchirapalli (Alaimagal) and Dr Rama Soundaravalli from Kutralam (Malaimagal) – on Vijayadasami Day – Oct 14.

Thirumuruga Variyar’s disciple Kalaimamani D Mangaiyarkarasi will present special thematic discourses with special emphasis on Navarathri (Kambarin Kavinayam, Oct 7; Kalaimagal, Oct 10; Malaimagal, Oct 15).
