Chennai, Sep 21 (): Chennai is all set for the gala and star-studded grand celebrations of hundred years of Indian cinema in the city.
The grand 4-day Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema will witness the participation of who’s who of all the southern film industries – Kollywood, Tollywood, Sandalwood and Mollywood.
Film shoots have been suspended from September 18 to 24 and cinema halls would be shut on September 24, the grand finale of Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema.
Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa will inaugurate the celebrations at 4pm today at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. While top Tamil stars like Kamal Hassan, Superstar Rajinikanth, Ajith among many other celebrities are said to have confirmed their participation in the event, the grapevine is that Ilayathalapathy Vijay may give it a miss at the celebrations.
Reports say that Vijay was not happy with the pressures he faced over the release of his last film, Thalaivaa in Tamil Nadu and he also felt that no one from the film fraternity came out openly in support of him when he was neck-deep with problems over its release in the State.
The upset Vijay is now said to have planned to skip the grand celebrations held in Chennai, to show his feelings. It is also said his father-director SA Chandrasekhar is also skipping the function and reportedly on a holiday, out of town.
