Bangalore, Sep 16 (): Yuvraj set the stage on fire blasting 123 off 89 balls against West Indies A and sent a strong message to Indian selectors at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
India A beat West Indies A by 77 runs in the first of the three-match unofficial ODI series. Skipper Yuvraj Singh’s 123 came in 89 balls with eight 4s and seven 6s that took India A to a massive 312 for four in 42 overs in the rain-shortened match.
Put into bat by West Indies A, India lost opener Unmukt in the third over for just one run. Robin Uthappa and Mandeep Singh put on 39 for the second wicket. Mandeep and Yuvraj paired and put on 100 from 112 that took the score to 147 in 31st over.
Hard-hitter Yousuf Pathan made 70 not out from just 32 balls with four 4s and six 6s. Yousuf and Yuvraj added 125 runs for the fourth wicket in just 55 balls. Yuvraj scored his second fifty of the innings in just 20 balls. India Mandeep Singh scored 67 in 78 balls anchored the middle of the innings.
Chasing a tough task of 313 in 42 overs, West Indies lost three wickets in 11 overs for 58 runs. Narsingh Deonarine (57) and Andre Fletcher (29) put a 54 run stand for 4th wicket. Ashley Nurse made 57 at the end of the innings.
West Indies were all out for 235 in 39.1 overs. Indian bowlers Sumit Narwal, Vinay Kumar, Rahul Sharma and Yusuf Pathan took two wickets each.
