Mumbai, Sep 7 (): Chennai Express made a business of nearly 6.01 crores at the domestic box office in its 4th week. Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer now after four weeks has collected about 224.43 cr at the domestic box office.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#ChennaiExpress collects Rs 6.01 cr nett in Week 4. Grand total: Rs 224.43 cr nett. All Time Blockbuster”.
He also gave the break-up collection for the fourth week, “#ChennaiExpress breakup for Week 4: Fri 81 lacs, Sat 1.14 cr, Sun 1.89 cr, Mon 56 lacs, Tue 51 lacs, Wed 48 lacs, Thu 62 lacs”.
Chennai Express has shown a rock-steady performance over 4th weekend and managed to collect 3.84 cr nett plus. Film has further added 56 lakhs on Monday followed by 51 lakhs on Tuesday, 48 lakhs on Wednesday and 62 lakhs on Thursday taking the total figure to 224.43 cr nett. The movie should cross 226 cr nett by end of fourth week and it could be a huge hurdle for the upcoming films to cross the mark.
The week-wise breakup of the film is: Rs 156 crore in first week, Rs 43.85 crore in second week, Rs 17.87 crore in third week and Rs 6.01 crore in fourth week.
Besides entering into Rs 100 crore club in just four days and also getting into the Rs. 200-crore league, Chennai Express has broken many box office records. The collections of Chennai Express is still strong at the box-office in the fourth week.
Being Bollywood’s Highest Grosser Of All Time, this Shah Rukh Khan starrer collected almost 114 crores from the overseas market.
After losing a lot of screens to August 15 release OUATIMD, August 23 release Madras Cafe, August 30 release Satyagraha, Chennai Express had been struggling since 3rd and 4th week to get very high box office figures.
Moreover, with the release of Zanjeer and Shuddh Desi Romance on September 6 the movie will again lose most of the screens it has been enjoying as of now.
