Indian Idol Junior winner is Anjana Padmanabhan from Bengaluru

Mumbai, Sep 2 (): Anjana Padmanabhan from Bengaluru won the first ‘Indian Idol Junior’ trophy at a glittering star-studded grand finale of the singing reality show on Sunday beating Anmol Jaswal from Jammu, Nirvesh Sudhanshubhai Dave from Ahmedabad and Debanjana Karmakar from Kolkata. Megastar of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan crowned her as the winner of the ‘Indian Idol Junior’.

10-year-old Anjana Padmanabhan received a prize money of Rs 25 lakh from Sony Entertainment Television, a Nissan Micra Car, a fixed deposit of Rs five lakhs from Kotak and Rs two lakhs from Horlicks.

Debanjana Karmakar, Anmol Jaswal and Nirvesh Dave secured the first and the second runner-up positions respectively.

The journey of the first season of Indian Idol Junior started with 86 contestants who came from across India and the stage performances of the show kick-started with 11 contestants – Anjana, Debanjana, Anmol, Nirvesh, Sugandha Amol Date, Sonakshi Kar, Priyam Borpatra Gohain, Akash Sharma, Sankalp Yaduwanshi, Eman Chaudhary and Aryan Das – on June 1st.

The gala episode of the show was judged by singer Shreya Ghoshal along with music composer duo Vishal and Shekhar.

On the finale day, the stage was set on fire by the scintillating performances of Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor and Ram Charan Teja.

Shahid Kapoor was there in the show to entertain the audience with his dance moves as well as to promote his upcoming film, ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’. Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan Teja promoted their upcoming movie, ‘Zanjeer’. Priyanka applauded all four finalists for their amazing talent.

All the top 11 contestants entertained the audience with their special performances along with electrifying performances by judges Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani.

The final performance was given by the top four contestants who paid a tribute to Amitabh by singing some of his hit numbers, including “Yeh mera dil”, “Ab toh hai tumse”, “Dekha na haye re”.

At the finale, an announcement of an Indian Idol Academy, which will impart musical training to children, was also made.
