On the third weekend, Chennai Express was doing good collecting nearly 10 crores. Then, the film showed a small drop, but the collections were steady throughout the week days. However, the collections saw a slight escalation on Tuesday and Wednesday, due to holidays for Janmashtami and Dahi Handi festival.

But, the film will show a major drop from this week, as it entered its 4th week at the Box Office. Also, the film will lose out more screens to this week’s multi-starrer Satyagraha and also the John Abraham starrer Madras Cafe, which is performing well too!

In 21 days plus paid previews, Chennai Express, which is still running, has broken the four-year-old record held by Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. The film has crossed the coveted 202.57-crore mark, which was the highest theatrical revenue for an Indian film after deduction of tax.

Chennai Express has created many records at the box office; the movie earned Rs 33.12 crore on the opening day, breaking the first day collection record of Rs 30.50 crore set by Salman Khan’s “Ek Tha Tiger”. Next, it crossed the 100 crore mark in just 4 days.

Chennai Express was released in 2,550 cinemas with 3,650 screens. On the other hand, 3 Idiots was released in approximately 1,149 screens.

Chennai Express is a Ramzan Eid (2013) release, while 3 Idiots was a Christmas (2009) release.
