Mumbai, Aug 26 (): Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’s, OUATIMD’s, collections dropped as the film entered its 2nd week run at the domestic box office. In fact, the film fared even worse in the second weekend than its previous day. With collections of 5 crores over the weekend, the film’s total income so far stands at 58.50 crores at the domestic box office.
OUATIMD dropped in its collections on 2nd Friday and the film grew only marginally on Saturday and Sunday. Film managed to collect 1.50-1.60 cr nett on 2nd Saturday followed by 2-2.25 cr nett on Sunday, taking the total figure to 58.50 cr nett plus.
The superb trending of “Chennai Express” and surprising fantastic performance of “Madras Cafe” have completely pushed the collection of OUATIMD back at box office.
Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan starrer raked in good revenues from Mumbai and Delhi circuits but “Chennai Express” outperformed it in other circuits.
Akshay Kumar’s star value has been a crowd puller but with the film providing little in terms of content to attract the audiences, there was no scope for it to fare better, says experts. The film is expected to finish its 2nd week at 62 cr nett.
If, OUATIMD finish with 65 cr nett domestic total, it is lower than Akshay’s previous films like “Special 26″ and ‘OMG – “Oh My God!” which were smaller films.
Being one of Balaji’s most popular franchises, the expectations over the film was high. But due to the presence of Chennai Express in the market, the film failed.
“Ek Thi Daayan”, “Shootout at Wadala”, “Lootera” and “Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara” are produced under Balaji banner. All the four films could not make it big at the box office, but managed to earn profits due to satellite rights. The production house was relying on “OUATIMD” to earn some profit, but this film too has bombed at the box office.
