Mumbai, Aug 24 (): Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express has crossed the 200 crore milestone at the end of its second week.

Chennai Express that was released on August 9 took just four days to cross Rs 100 crore mark and now it has crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the box office in the second week of its release. The movie has taken only 14 days to cross this milestone. To the surprise of all, the movie is still going strong across India and abroad.

Breaking many previous records of the Indian cinema, the movie has also been declared as “All time blockbuster”.

Film critic and trade analyst Tarn Adarsh tweeted, “#ChennaiExpress hits a double century in 2 weeks. Crosses Rs 200 cr nett in India. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER”.

Taran also tweeted the break-up of the second week collections and the grand total domestic collections at the box office in 14 days. He tweeted, “#ChennaiExpress collects Rs 43.85 cr in Week 2: Fri 6.50 cr, Sat 8.51 cr, Sun 10.22 cr, Mon 3.80 cr, Tue 7.06 cr, Wed 4.51 cr, Thu 3.25 cr”.

“#ChennaiExpress 2 weeks grand total stands at Rs 200.55 cr nett. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER”.

Chennai Express has become Bollywood’s second highest grosser ever released in India. But, the movie has yet not shattered “3 Idiots” record.

The top three films in terms of box office collections is “3 Idiots” with Rs 202.47 crore, “Chennai Express” with Rs 200.55 crore and “Ek Tha Tiger” with Rs 198.78 crore. Now, Chennai Express requires more than Rs 2 crore to gain the top position in the domestic collections chart.

Chennai Express collected Rs 43.85 cr in its second week. The film failed to break the second week record of “3 Idiots” that stands at approximately Rs 55.79 crore.

Along with crossing the 200 crore mark in the second week, the movie has also crossed another milestone. In the overseas market, the movie did extraordinarily well and added another 11 crore on weekdays in 2nd week, thus taking the overseas collection above 100 crore. This is not only a new record but a tough one to break any time soon.
