Mumbai, Aug 19 (): Chennai Express which opened big on Eid day has now managed to make a whopping business of 181.93 crore at the box office in its second weekend. The movie is continuing its dream run at box office.

The SRK-starrer witnessed a little drop in its collection on Friday (16 August) as the film lost many screens and shows to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara. But, again the film saw improvement in its collections on Saturday (Rs 8.51 crore) and Sunday (Rs 10.22 crore). Its total collections in 10 days (second weekend) has now gone to Rs 181.93 crore.
The movie has broken many previous box office records. Records made by Chennai Express are:
- Highest collections in Paid Previews ever
- Biggest 1st day collection ever
- Highest 2nd day collection ever
- Highest 3rd day collection ever
- Highest weekend collection ever
- Fastest to collect 100 crore
- Highest week 1 (7 day week) collection surpassing EK Tha Tiger’s 140 cr from 9 days
Having created all these records, Chennai Express has become the fourth all time highest grosser after 3 Idiots (Rs 202 crores), Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 199 crores) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Rs 188.57 crores).
Trade experts predict that it will easily beat the record of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani by the end of second week. It might even beat the record of Ek Tha Tiger and become the second all-time highest grosser in 14 days.
Though faced a strong competition with Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara at the box office, the film is moving towards the 200 crore mark. Experts are also sure that the movie will become the all-time highest grosser in three weeks as the film has fared remarkably well so far.
