Wagah, Aug.15 (ANI): Personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) gifted Indian Mango saplings to their Pakistan Rangers counterparts at the Attari- Wagah border checkpost, and exchanged sweets on the occasion of India’s 67th Independence Day on Thursday.
BSF Deputy Inspector General (Amritsar Sector) M.F.Farooqui gave ten saplings of Dashehri Mango, Citrus fruit and Gulmohar, a box of sweets, a fruit basket and greetings to Pakistan Rangers Wing Commander Adnan Sheikh.
Today’s exchange of greetings and sweets came a day after the Pakistan Rangers had offered sweets to their BSF counterparts on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Talking to media at the border, Farooqui described the offering of mango saplings as plants of peace, and added that he was hopeful about it bearing fruits of peace.
He said that his counterpart assured them that they would plants these saplings of peace on the border.
Relations between India and Pakistan are in a poor state at present in the wake of repeated cease-fire violations along the Line of Control (LoC). Recently, five Indian Army soldiers were ambushed and killed in Poonch District. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
