Box office collection : Chennai Express creates history, crosses 100 cr mark in three days

Mumbai, Aug 12 (): Chennai Express has created history by entering into the prestigious 100 crore club within three days of its release.

Excited film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted immediately, “And the records lie shattered! #ChennaiExpress hits a ton [100 cr] at the close of its opening weekend. Creates HISTORY!”

He then tweeted the break up collection figures, “#ChennaiExpress Thu previews 6.75 cr, Fri 33.12 cr, Sat 28.05 cr, Sun 32.50 cr. Total: 100.42 cr nett. MONSTROUS Weekend… India biz only”.

Chennai Express earned Rs 33.12 crore on its opening day surpassing Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger which had earned Rs 32.92 crore. Previously, on Thursday for paid previews, the movie collected an excellent number – 6.75 crore beating the paid preview collection of 3 idiots.

Taran tweeted, “#ChennaiExpress packs a solid punch in paid previews, collects 6.75 cr nett [India]. Highest ever. Crosses #3Idiots previews: 2.7 cr”.

Chennai Express has not only taken to a super start at its paid preview and opening day, but it has also broken the scale on its 2nd day (Saturday) by raking in Rs. 28.05 crore. So, the two day collection was Rs. 67.92. Trade experts predicted that the Shahrukh Khan starrer may cross 100 mark by Sunday night.

Rohit Shetty-directorial did not in any way disappoint the predictions made by the trade experts. Chennai Express has surpassed the expectations in just three days of its release. Film recorded best preview figures, best opening day and best 2nd day figure followed by best weekend figures too.

Apart from the domestic collections made by the film, the film is also witnessing an amazing collection at the box office in the overseas markets. It has crossed 44 cr and by tomorrow film will cross 55 cr which is unimaginable.

SRK’s previous flicks “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, “Don 2″ and “Ra.One” failed to create huge waves at the box, but “Chennai Express” is not only racing ahead at the box office but also people from all quarters are praising SRK for his work in the comedy-action drama.
