Eiffel tower bomb threat: turns out as false alarm

Aug 10 (): Eiffel Tower was evacuated on receiving a bomb threat to the management at the Paris tourist spot. And evacuation process was started with setting up security perimeters soon after the threat. The premises were cleared out and the closest surroundings shut down for public use. But it turned out to be a false alarm and it has’s been reopened for the tourists later by the Paris Police department.

Tourist visitors were asked to wrap up by 12:30 GMT (18:00 hrs IST) after the alert. After thorough search by the Paris police and confirmation the place was open for the tourists by 14:30 GMT (20 hrs IST). Though security threats are common for landmarks which pulls enormous crowds such as Paris, momentarily such threats are considered sensitive with United States receiving a global terror alert.

Built in 1889, one of the most magnificent monuments – the Eiffel tower, the 324 meter high iron tower which sees close to 7 million visitors every year is regularly taunted with such pranks. Such evacuation measures happen at an average of twice a year.

Eiffel tower was named after Gustave Eiffel, the engineer who built the monument. The magnificent tower shaped by support of irons is situated in France. It remained the tallest man-made creation for quite a while and it took forty years to break the record. It is also known that Eiffel Tower is celebrated as one of the seven wonders of the world.
