Panesar faces threat to international career over ‘drunken urinating’ antics

London, Aug 8 (ANI): England bowler Monty Panesar is reportedly facing a threat to his international career with coach and team director Andy Flower taking a dim view of his ‘bizarre’ urinating on bouncers in a nightclub.

According to the Mirror, Panesar had relieved himself over nightclub bouncers, having been ejected from a Brighton venue in the early hours of Monday morning, following a complaint from a group of women that he had been harassing them.

The report further said that the spinner would have to explain himself to Flower, who is understood to have taken an extremely dim view of Panesar’s run-in with the law, after he has been dealt with by Sussex County Cricket Club.

Panesar had to pay a 90-pound fine to the police after the incident, for which he has reportedly apologised although the report said that he might have to pay a far greater price concerning his career as England has been concerned over his erratic behaviour for some time.

The report further said that Panesar could now miss out on this winter’s Ashes tour as a result of his indiscretion despite being the second best spinner in the country, adding that the left-arm bowler has not been included in the squad for the fourth Ashes Test at Durham, which starts on Friday.

According to the report, Flower will support whatever sanctions are passed down by Panesar’s county, adding that Sussex has also launched a full investigation into their spinner’s drunken behaviour on a night out.

Panesar, who lives in Hove, has two years left to run on his current Sussex deal, the report added. (ANI)
